  • The former coach of AS FAR Rabat noted that last season’s struggles seemed to resurface in some of his players, allowing Sundowns to regain control of the match. This mental dip was something Nabi found unacceptable, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a winning mindset throughout the game.

“You want to win every single time; you have a winning mentality, for that… after Sundowns scored their first goal, we noticed some players were deflated. The ghosts of last season came back to haunt us after Sundowns' goal,” Nabi explained during the press conference.
“This mentality, I can’t accept it. I won’t tolerate players who concede a goal and then lose focus. Yes, I haven’t implemented all my strategies yet—it’s only my first step—but I expect better. I demand better.”

While Nabi expressed disappointment over the loss, he acknowledged that the team's performance was marginally better than last season. However, he made it clear that he’s far from satisfied with where they stand.

“Do you think I’m pleased with today’s result? Absolutely not. I hate losing. It’s something I can’t stand. Maybe the performance was a bit more polished than last season, but this is Kaizer Chiefs. You don’t just accept losses and shrug them off because you played well in the second half.”
“That’s not how we operate here. If you don’t understand what Kaizer Chiefs stands for, then you don’t belong here. It’s as simple as that.”

The Soweto giants were visibly upset with the referee’s call, which they felt unfairly impacted the outcome of the game. Fans chimed in on the social media platform, offering a mix of support and criticism for the team’s reaction. While some praised Chiefs for standing up for themselves, others urged them to focus on improving their gameplay moving forward.
