KWAZULU-NATAL – It was supposed to be a day of celebration, Heritage Day, but instead, tragedy unfolded on South Africa's roads. What started as a festive occasion turned somber when a devastating collision occurred on the R74 near Stanger.

Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while multiple others sustained injuries in this harrowing accident. The victims were both men, aged between 40 and 50, whose lives were tragically cut short in an instant.

    The details from the scene paint a grim picture. Arrive Alive confirmed that two individuals were declared dead after a bakkie and a taxi collided head-on at the Doringkop intersection near Stanger. Emergency responders were called to the scene, where they quickly assessed the situation and initiated life-saving measures.

    In total, 17 people were injured in the collision, with eight of them sustaining serious injuries. The chaos and devastation at the crash site were overwhelming, with emergency services working tirelessly to provide care and ensure the safety of all involved.

    Airlift to Hospital for Critical Patient

    Among the victims was a critically injured passenger in the taxi who required immediate medical attention. Emergency responders stabilized the individual at the scene before airlifting them to a hospital in Durban for further treatment.     Seven other patients who suffered severe injuries were also stabilized at the scene before being transported to various medical facilities.
