JOHANNESBURG — In the wake of former Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan's passing, the EFF has made it clear they don’t view his legacy through rose-tinted glasses. Instead, the party has voiced strong criticism, accusing him of leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

EFF Refuses to Mourn Pravin Gordhan

Through a statement shared on its X account (@EFFSouthAfrica), the EFF voiced its disapproval of Gordhan's leadership. The party claimed his tenure as Public Enterprises Minister was marked by chaos and mismanagement, leading to significant setbacks for state-owned enterprises (SOEs). They refused to mourn his passing, labeling him a counter-progressive figure whose actions harmed the nation.

South Africans Call Out EFF's Hypocrisy

The EFF’s critique hasn’t gone unnoticed by the public. Many South Africans have accused the party of hypocrisy, pointing out instances where EFF leaders, including President Julius Malema, appeared to support Gordhan in the past. This sudden change in tone has left many questioning the party’s sincerity.

Social media reactions have been swift and vocal. One user, Tibla, commented:

"One thing about the party is that it never disappoints when it comes to flip-flopping. Truly remarkable."

Another user, RET are thieves, chimed in:

ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, Gauteng Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi, and former Public Protector Professor Thuli Madonsela all praised Gordhan’s contributions. They remembered him as a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly for the betterment of South Africa, despite the challenges he faced.

As the nation reflects on Gordhan’s life and legacy, the divide between political parties becomes increasingly apparent. While some mourn his passing, others use it as an opportunity to voice long-standing grievances, sparking heated debates across the country.
