  • The Sundowns boss outlined several reasons why taking on the Glamour Boys is going to be a monumental task. “It’s a team that looks rejuvenated – and that makes them incredibly difficult to play against,” Mngqithi explained. He went on to describe Chiefs as a dangerous squad, particularly in transition, thanks to their dynamic front three. “It’s a game that requires a lot of focus, humility, and respect. You can’t just walk into this one blindly,” he emphasized.

“It’s a team that’s looking rejuvenated – and that makes them a very difficult team to play against; they are very dangerous, on transition with the front three, it makes it a game that requires a lot of focus, humility and a certain amount of respect I must say,” the Masandwana head coach said ahead of the game.

This matchup is undoubtedly the biggest game of the weekend in South African soccer. Mngqithi acknowledged that Sundowns thrive in high-pressure situations, but he also paid tribute to the quality of their opponents. “We love playing in front of big crowds. It’s something we’ve grown accustomed to and even enjoy. But let’s not forget, we’re up against an excellent team that’s started the season exceptionally well,” he added.

“I think we thrive in playing against big crowds; I think it’s one thing as Sundowns we have grown and developed to like, but one must say, we’re playing against an excellent team that has also started very well.”

In other news, Briefly News reported that Mngqithi took a moment to commend Nasreddine Nabi ahead of the Sundowns vs Chiefs showdown. He praised the new manager’s impact on the team, highlighting the renewed energy and tactical sharpness that Nabi has brought to the table.

Mngqithi also singled out three “dangerous” players from the Kaizer Chiefs roster. These players, according to him, could make all the difference in the upcoming clash. While he didn’t name them outright, it’s clear that Sundowns will need to be on high alert to neutralize the threat posed by these key figures.
