JOHANNESBURG — Mpho Morolane, the former president of the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC), has publicly pinned his departure from the EFF on Julius Malema’s hardline stance against immigrants. His resignation has sparked discussions across the country about the future direction of the party.

Former EFFSC Leader Turns His Back on Malema

According to journalist @TheRealClementM, Morolane made his decision official when he announced his exit from the EFF and joined the MK Party on Wednesday. During the announcement, Morolane explained that he was exhausted by what he described as "outsourcing his brain" to Malema. He criticized the EFF's handling of migration issues, labeling it as misguided and counterproductive.

  • Morolane went further, singling out EFF spokesperson Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi for amplifying the controversial rhetoric around migration. He argued that the EFF's messaging on this critical issue lacked clarity and foresight. "You can't talk about a United States of Africa while promoting chaos," Morolane stated bluntly, highlighting the contradiction in the party's vision.

"The EFF has painted Jacob Zuma as a delinquent, but anyone who tries to challenge this narrative is shut down. It's a toxic environment," he added.

Social Media Reacts to Morolane's Exit

Morolane's decision didn't just ripple through the EFF; it sparked a wave of reactions from South Africans on social media. Many citizens weighed in, offering their opinions on the state of the EFF and its leadership under Julius Malema.

Schwarzenegger Chauke expressed that many EFF members share similar frustrations but are too afraid to act. "A lot of EFF members feel this way, but they're stuck in their comfort zone," he said.

"The EFF's electoral decline is directly tied to its stance on illegal immigrants. They're writing their own obituary at this point," commented Michael.

Nathan pointed out the irony in blaming Malema for migration issues while the ANC controls the borders. "Politicians are dishonest. How can Malema be blamed for something the ANC is responsible for?" he questioned.

Tat'uRadebe warned, "I've seen EFF fighters with strong opinions on illegal immigrants. Juju was warned that these views would hurt him."

Jakalasi was more direct, calling Malema a sellout. "He uses the power of South African voters to defend illegal immigrants," he said, criticizing Malema's approach.

In related developments, EFF leader Julius Malema has vowed to cleanse the party of former deputy president Floyd Shivambu's lingering influence. This pledge came shortly after Shivambu also defected to the MK Party. Malema's speech, filled with emotion and determination, has sparked mixed reactions among party members and the public alike.

Malema's promise to purge the party signals a potential shift in the EFF's leadership dynamics and strategy. As the party faces internal dissent and external criticism, it remains to be seen whether Malema can steer the EFF toward renewed strength or if the cracks will widen further.
